FFI meeting Jan 16, 6:30 F&G downtown Boise

Hello FFI members, happy new year and hope everyone had a great holiday season. All of us on the board are looking forward to an awesome fishing season full of great programs and club activities. Our first guest speaker this year is Jenn Vincent fish biologist for fish Idaho & game. Though many people don’t know, the Idaho Department of Fish and Game (IDFG) has a fisheries research team that specifically addresses questions related to resident sportfish management. The team is comprised of four people which includes biologists that focus on Wild Trout, Hatchery Trout, and Lakes and Reservoirs research in addition to a supervisory biologist that oversees all three of those positions. Jenn Vincent, who is the wild trout evaluations biologist on this research team, will introduce how this research team was developed and how research questions are prioritized for fisheries management in Idaho. She will then share some of the past and current ongoing research within the program. Topics will include the “Tag You’re It” and Trojan male (MYY) Brook Trout programs. It’s time to reup your dues for the new year, we are increasing the cost of membership by $5.00 so please bring cash or a check. For those that can’t make it please mail it in to Fly Fishers Of Idaho P.O Box 8661 Boise, Idaho 83707. There will be a $ 5.00 late fee charged after the March meeting if not received. A Special shout out to Jerry Cripe who donated the knife for our fund-raising raffle this last year. Jerry will also be coming to the meeting for his photo op, by the way Keith Murphy was the big winner. I’m sure Jerry will answer any questions on sharpening or knife making in general Hope to see everyone there your Prez D.S.
