Economist to speak about dams Wednesday, salmon film Thursday

Dear Donald

We have two amazing opportunities this week to celebrate and give back to Idaho’s rivers. Please join us for both!

Wednesday, Oct. 25  – Economist to speak about dam economics

Restoring the lower Snake River is about biology, ecology and culture. Perhaps more than anything else, however, it’s about economics. Boise-based economist Anthony Jones has conducted multiple studies showing the lower Snake River dams don’t even pay their own way. Join us for this incredible opportunity to hear one of the region’s most respected economists dig into the dollars and sense of the lower Snake River dams.

What: Economist Tony Jones to speak about dam economics

When: Wednesday, Oct. 25, 6 p.m.  7:30 p.m.
Where: College of Idaho, Boone Building Lecture Hall 103, Caldwell, Idaho

Film Description

Society has an intimately complex and perilous relationship with salmon and steelhead. The current management paradigm has failed, and the status quo solutions for restoring impoverished wild populations have proved ineffective.

The film, “Our Two Hands,” is an examination of the underlying cause of this decline, as well as the innovative voices in the angling community and general public fighting for a wild fish future in the Pacific Northwest.
