FFI Meeting Nov 21 Idaho Fish & Game Boise 7:00 pm

Hello members for starters i just want to thank all those who came out for our roadside cleanup, this was the largest group over the years, five more were already out on the road. I am currently working on changing the pickup area one mile back starting at mile post 112 -113 if that is oked by the Adapt a highway folks due to safety concerns.

Are guest speaker for November is Martin Koenig, this should be a great evening. Martin Koenig is an avid angler and biologist with Idaho Department of Fish and Game, coordinating conservation planning for several gamefish species across the state. He’ll dive into the biology, management and fishing opportunities for Cutthroat Trout across Idaho. Martin’s presentation will provide an overview of Idaho’s three native Cutthroat Trout subspecies: Westslope, Yellowstone, and Bonneville Cutthroat trouts. He will include a brief history of the species, their distribution in Idaho, and their typical life cycle and migrations. Martin will also highlight some recent fisheries management and conservation actions surrounding these species. Martin will provide some recommendations where anglers can find Cutthroat Trout, and also demonstrate some of the online tools available to find more information on how to locate these native gamefish. This months fishout will be on the Boise river in town meeting at Fish & Game on Nov 23 10:00 AM. Remember their is no meeting in December the Christmas party takes over Saturday Dec 7 6:30 Casa Mexico next to harbour freight. We need a head count on or before our Nov meeting. FFI Oct 17 meeting 7:00 pm

Hello all this month’s program is with “Alexa Ballinger she began her career as a fisheries biologist with Texas Parks and Wildlife, monitoring fish populations on the Gulf Coast. She is now an anadromous fisheries biologist for the Idaho Department of Fish and Game, working out of the Nampa Research office. In this presentation, she will share field techniques that IDFG uses to monitor wild salmon and steelhead at every life stage. Come find out how these different techniques work together to illustrate the life cycle of a migratory salmonid.” come on out for an enjoyable and educational evening. The club also has a roadside cleanup scheduled for Oct 19 we will meet at the stage stop at 9:00 am and for those interested in fishing on to the Southfork. FFI Meeting Sept 19th Thursday Boise Fish and game 7:00pm

Hello FFI members hope everyone has not melted through this extremely hot summer. Our program this month will be given by Tom Governale a local guide out of Idaho Anglers, Tom is an exceptional guide full of knowledge and experience in the flyfishing industry. Tom’s program is going to be on fishing Redfish down in Texas, this is one you don’t want to miss. So come out and show your support. Greg Menoux, Jan Bento and Tim Demarco your shirts are in. Try to get to the meeting no later than 6:30 pm. Hope to see you there. The second roadside cleanup will be Oct 19 Sat, we will meet at the stagestop for breakfast at 9:30. For those interested afterward we will move on to the Southfork to fish the rest of the afternoon. D.S.

Hello members this month we will have an open discussion, no program as of this week. We are in the dulldrums of summer hopefully we will get a relief from the heat and get back to some productive fishing in September. D.S.

Fishout Canceled

FFI Meeting June 20th 7:00pm Fish and Game Boise

Hello all, this month’s fishout will be at Little Camas Reservoir Saturday June 15, we will be meeting at the Stage Stop for breakfast at 8:30. Directions are 2 miles past the Anderson Dam turnoff, bring your trout gear with full sink line and leech patterns along with small chironomids. This month’s presentation will be on Euro Nymphing giving by Chris Preston local fishing guide & Instructor, Chris gives an informative and educational discussion on the tricks and setup, so come on out for a great evening. Meeting May 16, 2024 and Picnic May 24, 2024

Hello members we will be having our May meeting on the 16th 7:oo pm at the Idaho Fish and Game office in Boise, i know it was mentioned that we don’t have the scheduled meeting in the same month of our picnic but we made an exception this year. The presentation will be from Rivers United with discussion on the health of Idaho rivers and the update on the Dam’s. The Picnic is on May 24th 6 pm to 9 pm at Settlers Park 3245 N Meridian Sight #1 close to the tennis courts. We need a head count ASAP. For those new to this we breakup side dishes depending on your name so those coming from A to K bring a dessert. L through R salad and S through Z appetizers. The club provides burgers dogs chips and drinks if bringing a dish item have a plastic serving spoon or fork, we have the permit for beer so BYOB. The Fishout this month will be at Little Camas on Sat May 18 if conditions continue more on this at the meeting. We have a few going to Duck Valley again on May 28 – June 3rd all are welcome I will be in sight#10. Still have members unpaid dues, please bring them to the meeting.
